The World’s most powerful: Religion.

Religion has many forms. We, humans, treasure our beliefs and we rely on them for guidance throughout our lives. Some of us worship the heavens, some worship the earth and others worship hell. For most, religion is to bring us peace, harmony and love; it is more important than the air we breathe. Surprisingly religion is the root cause of many battles. It can be, and often is, the destruction of its own values; peace, harmony and love.

“If you don’t believe in what I believe in then you are beneath me.” Those simple words can sum up the core of some of the most popular religious beliefs. Peace and harmony cannot be achieved if you believe you are better than another person. Most believers will push their way of life onto others asking them to abundant their beliefs. If they don’t convert it creates barriers, segregation, cultures divided, condemnation of each other’s belief. Barriers so sensitive it causes great wars amongst neighbours. Muslim against Indo, Christians against… the great crusade, Hitler...

Take a look at Eurasia , neighbouring nations alienating each other for hundreds of years. Most religions preach that they are the one and only true religion; no other beliefs should exist and all others are immoral. It is forbidden to respect someone else’s religion. Actually, how can you respect someone else’s faith when yours is supposed to be the one true religion? Why do we need religion or do we even need religion? Can we live without some sort of belief? Most of us will probable say “no, we can’t”. Which is comprehensible, we were all taught to believe in something or another. If I would have said “yes, we can live without religion” that meant I would be denouncing my faith. No, no, it is wrong to denounce my faith.

Most of us wish for world peace. Would you give up your car for world peace? Would you give up your house for world peace? Would you give up your job for world peace? Would you give any of that up so that the world famine would no longer exist, so all countries would become friends? So we would no longer have a need for guns or atomic bombs or the military. Give it all up for a world where everyone would call each other my brother, my sister and my friend, not believing we are better than another person. Now, would you give up your religion for world harmony? I wouldn’t. And that is the power of religion.

Title: You are Selfish.

Hey having someone call you selfish is not as bad as it may seem. In fact all of your actions are selfish. Find something you do that does not have a selfish motive. Think about it real hard. Are you thinking about the act of charity, helping some with their homework, loving that someone special, loving your parents or maybe even taking care of your kids? Yes, there are selfish reasons behind all those acts.

Let us analyse a few of these acts;

The act of charity: we give willingly for a special purpose. There are no money or tangible things we get back in return (well if you have a company, your company will get a tax break). Hah! It is the purest form of an unselfish act. Ask yourself why you give to charity. We feel better about ourselves when we give to charity.  If there was no self praise we would not give. Maybe it’s guilt for all the wrongdoing we’ve done so we pay charity to make ourselves feel better, you know, to balance things out. Same reasoning can be applied to helping someone with their homework.

The act of loving someone special: we love with all our heart. There is no greater feeling than to love. Yes there is! The greatest feeling is to be loved. Hah! Loving some is not enough we want that person to love US back. We become miserable if we give love and the love is not return. In fact we give love for it to be return to US. Okay then, so you still don’t believe? Why don’t you care for the stranger sitting next to you on the bus? Why don’t you care if that person does not love you? It’s because you don’t love that person so in return you don’t care if that person loves you. It is hard to admit but to love is to be loved. You love the person because you want the person to love YOU back. Loving your parents almost falls into the same category. You do love your parents, right? So why don’t you love my parents like they are your own. Hah! It’s simply because they are not YOUR own.

So when some tells you how selfish you are, simply ask them “ Tell me something you do that does not have a selfish motive behind it?”

Dear Doctor D.
Who gave us our color?  Where did it start?

Dear Reader,

depends on where your ancestors are from and it's all
about evolution. The more you move toward the equator the more you
will find dark skin people. There is more hours of sunlight down south
than up north. Our body is an amazing vessel. It adapts well to our
environment. If you are of a lighter complexion and you move to
somewhere south ,you stay there  and your future generation stays
there, it is highly possible that your great great great great great
grand kids will be a lot darker than your own children.

I had asked a friend to steal something for my car. He refused. What should I do.

 To Meghna:
Asking love ones to act in such a manner is very hypocritical. They do not need to perform such intolerable act to prove their devotion as a friend to you. You need to exam yourself. The expectation you have of others should reflect what they expect of you. If it does not then your relationship is unbalanced. Your friends will feel you demand too much of them and they might slowly break away. Then you will become friendless”
